Seven taboos for winter diesel engine use
Winter is here. When using and maintaining a diesel generator set, we need to pay attention to the maintenance of the diesel engine itself. There are several points to note:
Attention point one: Do not put water too early or do not put cooling water. Run at idle speed before turning off the flame. Wait until the temperature of the cooling water drops below 60 ° C. If the cooling water is released prematurely, the body will suddenly contract and be cracked when it is attacked by cold air when the temperature is high. When draining water, the remaining water in the body should be completely discharged to prevent it from freezing and expanding, which will cause the body to swell.
Attention point two: Avoid using fuel at will. The low temperature in winter makes the diesel's fluidity worse, its viscosity increased, and it is difficult to spread out, resulting in poor atomization and deterioration of combustion, resulting in the decline of the diesel engine's power and economic performance. Therefore, light diesel oil with low freezing point and good ignition performance should be selected in winter. Generally, the freezing point of a diesel engine should be 7-10 ° C lower than the local minimum temperature in the current season.
Note three points of use: Avoid using flame to start combustion. Do not remove the air filter, ignite it with cotton yarn dipped in diesel fuel, and place it in the intake pipe for ignition start. In this way, during the startup process, the dusty air from the outside will be directly sucked into the cylinder without filtering, causing abnormal wear of the pistons, cylinders and other parts, and also causing rough operation of the diesel engine and damaging the machine.
Note 4: Avoid baking oil pan with open flame. In order to prevent the oil in the oil pan from being deteriorated or even burnt, the lubricating performance is reduced or completely lost, thereby exacerbating machine wear. Low freezing point oil should be used in winter, and the temperature of the oil outside the machine can be used to increase the oil temperature during startup.
Note five points of use: avoid improper starting method. In winter, some drivers often use the abnormal starting method of starting without water (starting first, then adding cooling water) in order to start the diesel engine quickly. This practice can cause serious damage to the machine and should not be used.
The correct pre-heating method is: first cover the thermal insulation cover on the water tank, open the water drain valve, and continuously inject clean soft water at 60-70 ° C into the water tank. Fill the water tank with clean and soft water at 90-100 ° C and shake the crankshaft to properly lubricate each moving part before starting.
Note 6: Avoid low temperature load operation. After the diesel engine started to catch fire, some drivers could not wait to put into load operation immediately. Due to the low temperature of the diesel engine and the high viscosity of the oil, the diesel engine that has not caught fire easily will not be charged into the friction surface of the moving pair, which will cause severe wear of the machine. In addition, plunger springs, valve springs, and injector springs are also prone to breakage due to "cold brittleness". Therefore, after the diesel engine is on fire in winter, it should be idled for a few minutes at a low to medium speed. When the cooling water temperature reaches 60 ° C, it should be put into load operation.
Note 7: Do not pay attention to body insulation. The low temperature in winter makes it easy to overcool the diesel engine when it is working. Therefore, thermal insulation is the key to good use of diesel engines in winter. In northern areas, diesel engines used in winter should be equipped with cold protection equipment such as insulation jackets and curtains.
In addition, the thermostat plays an important role in increasing the temperature of the diesel engine during operation. Therefore, it is necessary to check whether the thermostat works normally before entering the winter, and the failed thermostat should be replaced in time.
